Travel Europe
Geographical Europe is bound to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Mediterranean Sea, to the southeast by the Caucasus Mountains and the Black Sea and the waterways connecting the Black Sea to the Mediterranean. To the east, Europe is divided from Asia by the Ural Mountains, the Ural river, and by the Caspian Sea.
The European Union (EU) has the world’s largest economy. It has an estimated nominal GDP of 14.2 trillion USD (2006) accounting for 35% of world GDP.
The 27 member states in the European Union are: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden.
The European Economic Area, established on January 1, 1994, extends the EU’s single market to three non-EU countries: Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. It allows these countries to be part of the EU’s single market without being EU member states, although they must adopt most EU legislation concerning the single EU market.
Currently, there are several countries in Europe that are considered candidates to join the European Union (EU). These countries are at various stages of the accession process. The timeline for their eventual entry into the EU is uncertain. The candidate countries are: Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey
In addition to these countries, there are also several potential candidates that have are interested in joining the EU. These include: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo
Other European Countries are Andorra, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Monaco, Russia, San Marino, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom and Vatican City State.
