Are you going on holiday through Europe by car? In a number of countries you need a toll sticker to be allowed to drive on motorways. Sometimes this is a sticker on your windscreen, sometimes a digital sticker linked to your license plate.
When hiring a car, you’ll likely need to pay for tolls using the rental company’s toll pass program (where available). Inform yourself at the rental company.

Why a toll sticker?
A toll sticker is a form of road tax. Instead of toll booths, you pay a fixed amount in advance to be allowed to use motorways or other toll roads. In many countries, it is mandatory – even if you only travel through them. Some countries use digital stickers that are linked to your license plate. Other countries still use paper stickers that you have to stick on the windshield.
