Namsos municipality has approximately 13.000 inhabitants and covers a area of 774,5 km2, lies in Nord Trøndelag. Namsos is one of the most important trade-centers in mid-Norway and can also offer visitors cultural and recreational experiences on the Coastal Route. In mid August you can visit the Namsos Coumtry Fair a shopping “happening” for all of Namdalen. In Namsos you will find the Nord-Trøndelag Art Gallery located in the Concert Hall. The gallery has both permanent and visiting exhibitions of Norwegian and international artists.
Within a radius of one hour driving time there are 10 different salmon rivers. Additonal fishing opportunities can be found in the many mountain lakes or along the coastline. A mountain (Mount Klompen) with a roadway to the top providing a scenic overlook of Namsos city. At the foot of Klompen lies a park and a bunker complex from World War Il. On the music scene Namsos are famous for the group DDE.
MOUNT KLOMPEN
A mountain with a roadway to the top providing a scenic view of Namsos town. At the foot of Klompen you can find the Fredriksberg park, a park and bunker complex from World War II. This is Namsos´ contribution to “The Northbound Trail” Project.
NAMSOS CANDLE-MAKING WORKSHOP
The 600-square metre outlet sells candles of all shapes, sizes and colours and is located in the old train depot in the centre of Namsos.
NORSK SAGBRUKSMUSEUM
Norwegian Museum for steam-operated sawmills, Spillum Dampsag og Høvleri, is located in Namsos. Norway’s first steam-operated mill was built here in 1853. This is an active museum where all machinery is still functioning. Namsos is Norway’s principal “the timber town” because of its rich sawmill traditions.
NAMDALSMUSEUM
A district museum for the whole Namdalen area, with exhibitions relating to mountains, forests, rivers and rural and urban life. The exhibition currently comprises 7,500 artifacts spread over 14 buildings. The museum is most famous for the traditional Namdals-fembøringen boat. The vessel is 44 feet long and one of only five preserved boats of this kind left in the world.

COASTAL ROUTE (KYSTRIKSVEIEN)
Explore the coastline of Norway and enjoy one of Norway´s finest tourist roads, or simply find your paradise for relaxation and peace of mind. The Costal Route (Kysriksveien or Rv17) is an exciting 650 km long stretch of road between Steinkjer in the south and Bodø in the north.
Apart from the traditional campsites, you will find self catering accommodation like Cabins, Fisherman cabins, or seahouses in most places along the route. In most of the places boatrental is available.
