Høylandet municipality has approximately 1.300 inhabitants and covers a area of 754,7 km2, lies in Nord Trøndelag. The principal industries are agriculture, forestry, wood-processing industry and public service. Høylandet is centrally positioned in Namdalen. In addition to the Coastal Route (Rv 17) going north or south, you can head eastwards to Grong or westwards along the RV 776 to Salsbruket, and onwards to Ytre-Namdal.
REVUELAND
Høylandet is most famous for its revue festival, which takes place every two years. You are hereby invited to visit this year’s festival, which takes place in July. We recommend a visit to the Revue Experience Centre, where exhibitions and performances of star numbers give you the opportunity to learn more about the history of the Norwegian revue – plenty of crazy fun for adults and children alike. A guest house and the local tourist information office are also located at the centre.

Høylandet Church at Romstad built in 1860 is worth a visit.
GONGSTADFOSSEN WATERFALL
The waterfall Gongstadfossen with its 75-metre drop is not far from the Høylandet town centre, where you can also see the special bridge of Hammerbrua.
COASTAL ROUTE (KYSTRIKSVEIEN)
Explore the coastline of Norway and enjoy one of Norway´s finest tourist roads, or simply find your paradise for relaxation and peace of mind. The Costal Route (Kysriksveien or Rv17) is an exciting 650 km long stretch of road between Steinkjer in the south and Bodø in the north.
Apart from the traditional campsites, you will find self catering accommodation like Cabins, Fisherman cabins, or seahouses in most places along the route. In most of the places boatrental is available.
FISHING
For people who want to try their luck fishing in rivers or mountain lakes, this area has a lot to offer. Fishing licenses can be bought at the Tourist Information Office.
