The seaside town of Grange-over-Sands in the United Kingdom, still provides today’s visitors with the nostalgic taste of a Victorian resort town, which made it so fashionable in days gone by. The town is ideal as a base from which to explore the Lake District Peninsulas of Furness and Cartmel, it also boasts a range of fine hotels, restaurants, shops and lovely walks along its traffic free promenade.

Just north of the village, you can enjoy views over the large bay from the hill of Hampsfell.
Also close to Grange-over-Sands is Cartmel, ‘ Home of the Sticky Toffee Pudding ‘. This village has developed into a centre for good food in recent years, with more specialist food shops, eateries and even a Michelin star restaurant. There is a food market every third Friday of the month.
Also nearby is the historic Holker Hall & Gardens and the wildlife haven of Arnside & Silverdale. This is on the other side of Morecambe Bay but is easily accessible by train as there is a railway bridge between them. A little further away are many more locations such as Lake Windermere, the largest lake in the Lake District, Levens Hall and Sizergh Castle near the town of Kendal. Incidentally, in the village/town of Ulverston is the museum of the famous 20th century comedians Laurel & Hardy. Stan Laurel (the Dunne) came from here. It also has a cinema where they show films. The mentioned place is on the way to the small port town of Barrow-in-Furness. The Dock Museum there tells about its history.
