Yarm is an attractive town in the borough of Stockton on Tees. The town is nestled between the River Tees and the River Leven and has two road bridges linking the town centre to Eaglescliffe and Low Leven. The centre of the town is beautifully laid out with a striking 43-arch railway viaduct, on the high street there is a small 17th century town hall surrounded by striking red roofed Georgian style buildings which house a mix of independent shops, tea rooms and cafes.
Transport links to Yarm are excellent, there is a railway station and there are regular bus services to the surrounding villages. Yarm is a perfect place from which to visit the North York Moors and ideal for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts wishing
to visit the beautiful surrounding countryside. Fishing is available on the River Tees directly behind the main high street.
There is an annual fair held in the town from Tuesday to Saturday in the third week in October, run by travellers who ride their horses through the streets on the Saturday. The town has a lively night life with a range of pubs and trendy bars lining the wide cobbled high street. Many have outdoor seating for the summer months.
Nearby accommodation includes the luxurious stately home at Crathorne Hall, the beautiful gardens are well worth a visit and there are also a number of B&Bs and pretty self catering cottages located close by.
