The pretty town of Silsden on the edge of the stunning Yorkshire Dales commands sweeping views of the River Aire and its valley, and has a thriving community. Although Silsden was originally an agricultural town, the construction of the nearby Leeds and Liverpool Canal meant that it later became an important centre for the mill industry, however the local economy is now largely supported by tourism and it has become a perfect place to stay and explore the local area. In and around town there are guest houses, hotels and good selection of self catering accommodation available. In addition at the canal itself narrow boats can be hired for days out, holidays or short breaks.
The village has excellent amenities, there are numerous shops and a supermarket, the railway station provides a good transport link with Leeds and Bradford. There is plenty to see and do in the area, whilst Silsden offers a place of relaxation and tranquillity from which to enjoy the beautiful countryside, the nearby Yorkshire Dales National park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, walkers and cyclists. The river Aire is close by and the Leeds to Liverpool Canal offers week long cruises or short rides and has become a popular place for narrow boat holidays.
