Tucked away in the foothills of the Pennines in North Yorkshire, the pretty market town of Settle has some of the most stunning views of the countryside available in the UK. Settle is located in a beautiful part of the Yorkshire Dales; sitting amongst the largest outcrop of limestone in Britain the landscape has everything from caves to dramatic crags and cliffs. It is also close to the Forest of Bowland another stunning area and well worth a visit.
There are good transport links from the town and it is home to the famous Settle-Carlisle Railway making it a perfect base from which to explore the more remote and beautiful surrounding areas. Close by are the famous three peaks which consist of Whernside, Inglesborough and Penyghent and attract walkers, climbers and cyclists from all over the world.
Nearby attractions include Ingleborough Hall with Ingleborough Castle as well as Austwick which is the site of the famous Norber Erratics, huge white boulders carried by a glacier during the ice age. In the town centre there is the bustling weekly market, held every Tuesday and a wide range of independent shops as well as a number of historic buildings to explore.
