Vaksdal municipality in Norway has approximately 4.500 inhabitants and covers a area of 715,6 km2. Dale is the centre of Vaksdal. Other places Vaksdal is Stanghelle, Stamnes and Matre. It has a railway station with connection to Voss and Bergen. A shopping centre lies about 1 km from the coast and has general stores, an ironmonger, clothing businesses, post office, bank, doctor and dentist. Rope Access via Kallestad Strait bridge over Veafjord. Both the E16 and the Bergen Railway passes through Vaksdal and Vaksdal station.
The nature of the municipality is characterized by what is commonly associated with typical west country, such as bay towards Osterøy and mountains surrounding Bergsdalen. Vaksdal river, which flows down through the valley and out to the bay, share settlement Vaksdal in Vaksdal areas in the south and in the north Jamne. Grave finds show that the area has been inhabited since the early Viking Age.
