Lørenskog Norway

Lørenskog municipality has approximately 34.000 inhabitants and covers a area of 70,5 km2. Farming and forestry have always been important for settling and employment in Lørenskog. Large shoppingcentres and specialist shops draw people from a large area to Lørenskog. The highest mountain in Lørenskog is Tronfjell (360 metres) and the lowest is Fjellhamarelva.

The most important motorways and main roads to and from the whole of Norway go through Akershus. Travelers by train, coach, car and boat to and from the area around Oslo have to pass through Akershus. There is a very good public transport system carrying large numbers of passengers between Akershus and the surrounding area daily, facilitating travel around the county. This provides an alternative to the big city, whether it’s for just an afternoon trip or a longer stay. You can get to all parts of Akershus within one hour from the centre of Oslo. The most modern airport in Europe lies in Akershus Oslo Airport.

MARIT LARSEN

Marit Larsen is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. She gained international fame during her teenage years as a member of the pop duo M2M with childhood friend Marion Raven. More recently she pursued her own music career releasing her solo debut album, Under the Surface, in 2006. Her second album, The Chase, was released in Norway on October 13th, 2008.

Larsen began recording her first solo record, which would ultimately be released in 2006 under the title Under the Surface. The album single “Don´t Save Me” spent several weeks on national charts and received many accolades, along with such accomplishments as an MTV Europe Award and Spellemannpris Award for Best Female Artist. She performed under the Nobel Peace Prize concert in 2008.

BURIAL MOUNDS

7 Burial mounds lies in Haneborgåsen. The burial mounds is from the bronze age (1500 – 500).

HAMMER BRIDGE

Hammer Bridge, built in stone 1860-1870 over Losbyelva river. The stone bridge measure is 6,5 metres wide and 15 metres long. The stone bridge lies on the old king´s road from Christiania (Oslo) against Rælingen, Enebakk and Smålenene.

LØRENSKOG CHURCH

Lørenskog Church is the oldest building in the area. The church is probably built in 1150-1250.

OLAVSWELL

Olavskilden lies on the top of Hammersberget. The well never get´s dry even after long last drought. The myth tells that after drinking the water from the well, you get good health, good luck, throwing money or take some holy water with you.

SKULDERUDSTUA

Lørenskogs oldest woodenbuilding from 1669. The house is one of few woodebuildings from 1600 left in Akershus.

SKÅRER FARM

Skårer gård is typical for the farms in Lørenskog at that time. The oldest barn are from the last half of the 1700th century. The cultural historic value lies in the totality it represents.

VASSHJULET

Vasshjulet lies at Losbyelva river and was built in about 1865. The water was led to Vasshjulet through a 105 metres channel from Mønevann. Vasshjulet was the weel for the Østmorksaw. The Saw went out of business in 1955 and today Vasshjulet is the only thing left. Vasshjulet have since 1955 was used in Lørenskog coat of arms.

LØRENSKOG COUNTYYARD

A local museum of agriculture and forestry.

GOLF

Losby Golfclub has two separate courses, Østmork the 18 hole championship course and Vestmork the 9 hole course, both designed by the renowned golf corse architect, Peter Nordwall.
