The cute island of Kýthira (also written as a Kithira or Kythera) is a multi-purpose island. In the North, you find beautiful nature. Because of the numerous water sources there is many green and a sumptuous vegetation. At the village Milopotamos you’ll even find a beautiful waterfall.
If you go further to the south, the landscape becomes more roughly. At the south-cape, you’ll find the picturesque capital Chora, with below it the beautiful bay of Kapsali.
If you ride with a rental car over Kýthira, you’ll be surprized by the impossible names of the sixty villages on the island. Small villages with names as Trifilliánika, Stathianika, Kontolianika, Aroniadika, Friligianika and Pitsinianika. Do not try to remember them! A place name that your might not forget is that of Potamós. Every Saturday you can meet a large part of the islanders there during the farmer market.
Kýthira is good destination for the lovers of the real Greece.
