German Wine Route: Maikammer Germany

Maikammer in Germany has 4100 inhabitants and an area of 13,7km².

The Alsterweiler Chapel with a remarkable altar also bears a Triptych, one of the few remaining gothic paintings in the Palatinate, completed about 1445.

A famous lookout point near Maikammer is the second highest point in the Palatinate, the Kalmit (673m), which is accessible by car and a short walk uphill to a “Pfaelzerwaldhuette” with a great view towards the upper rhine valley in the east.
