German Wine Route: Rhodt unter Rietburg Germany

Rhodt unter Rietburg with its 1150 inhabitants and an area of 10km² was elected the prettiest village on the german wine road in 2002. Rhodt lies subterraneous to the Rietburg, a castle ruin that was build about 1200 – 1204. Rietburg castle is accessible by chairlift.

Rhodt also bears several remarkable winemaker houses from Renaissance and Baroque times. In its boundary there is a 350 year old Traminer vineyard, said to be the oldest vineyard in germany.
