The busy market town of Huddersfield is located in West Yorkshire, within easy travelling distance of the picturesque Yorkshire Dales National Park and is a thriving and popular tourist destination.

The town was once an important textile producing area and Colne Valley Museum offers an insight into the past with its converted cottages now forming an interesting industrial museum for visitors.

Sports enthusiasts will find the Gillette Rugby League Heritage Centre of interest, with rare memorabilia and old programmes and pictures charting the games progress up to the present day.

Huddersfield has many historical listed buildings and is home to some wonderful Victorian architecture, the most striking of which is Victoria Tower on Castle Hill, which over looks the town. The Tower was built to mark Queen Victoria’s 60th Jubilee year and is one of the town’s most distinctive buildings.
The town centre in Huddersfield is mostly enclosed, offering all weather shopping with a number of chain stores and many independent specialist shops, cafes and restaurants.
