Gjerdrum Norway

Gjerdrum muncipality has approximately 6.200 inhabitants and covers a area of 83,2 km2. Farming and forestry have always been important for settling and employment in Gjerdrum. Ask is the civic centre of the village Gjerdrum which lies 3 miles north of Oslo. From Trollsnes to Årstadvangen DNT have marked a trail. The main attractions are the Asbjørnsen oak, the Dal mine, Konsta, Gjerdrum Church, Heni Church and the burial mounds at Torshov.

The most important motorways and main roads to and from the whole of Norway go through Akershus. Travelers by train, coach, car and boat to and from the area around Oslo have to pass through Akershus. There is a very good public transport system carrying large numbers of passengers between Akershus and the surrounding area daily, facilitating travel around the county. This provides an alternative to the big city, whether it’s for just an afternoon trip or a longer stay. You can get to all parts of Akershus within one hour from the centre of Oslo. The most modern airport in Europe lies in Akershus Oslo Airport.

At Sandum and Torshov area. The burial mounds have different age. Some of them are probably more than 1500 years old.

FJÆLSTADOAK

The Asbjørnsen Oak is estimated to be 550 year old. The Asbjørnsen Oak stand at Fjælstad south of Ask and east of Rv. 120 and you can see it from the road. The Oak was measured in 1990 and has a diameter of 1.80 meters.

SWIMMING

Popular bathing places in Gjermåa, Lysdammen, Nybrua (were the road against Gruvbakken cross the river) and with Grytfossen.

Gjerdrum Golfclub is under construction and lies at Brådal.
