Eidsberg muncipality has approximately 10.940 inhabitants and covers a area of 235,6 km2. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Mysen. From the community center Mysen is about ca. 70 km to Oslo. Moss Airport Rygge is only about an hour´s drive. There is good communication to the community and the E-18 as a central main thoroughfare between Oslo and Stockholm. Eidsberg municipality is located in Indre Østfold. The municipality comprises the villages Eidsberg, Trømborg, Slitu, Hærland and the town of Mysen. Mysen´s municipal center with a broad trade offers, activities for young people with sports and leisure club.
Eidsberg municipality has rich possibilities for business, school and outdoor activities. Farming and forestry have always been important for settling and employment in Eidsberg. A lot of people from the east of Norway visit the Momarkedet and Mysen every year. There are many interesting historical finds in the municipality from the Norwegian Middle Ages, with several churches, castle ruins, Earl Håkonsson birthplace in Folkenborg museum and many memories of pilgrimage. And a great fortress in 1918 called Fort Høytorp with fine hiking and many exciting activities.
MOMARKEDET

HØYTORP FORT
Høytorp Fort is a block fort and built 1912-1918 in the so-called Glomma line. This fort was the main fort in Fossum area’s fortress. It was determined with a total of 17 guns and several mitraliøser. The mobilization was about 800 men meeting at the fort. The fort was in the battle of 1940. All guns were removed by the Germans during the war. Now ongoing comprehensive restoration of the fort under the auspices of the Association for Høytorp Fort. The area around the fort is a popular recreation area and has also been a local ski resort for Indre Østfold.
GLOMMA
Glomma, Norway´s longest river. At various points the river has created super beaches ideal for bathing and different forms of boating sports. Glomma is one of Norway´s best rivers for fishing, and in the currents by the bridge anglers can catch many kinds of fish including trout. The numerous lakes and rivers in the district are also worth trying. It is possible to enjoy the open-air life the whole year round in many different ways. Perch, pike and different variety of carp are the dominant species. They are more numerous in the slower water of the watercourse and in the estuaries where the tributaries join. Here perch and pike can reach a considerable size.
In parts of the Glom where the current is strongest, and downstream from power station dams, large trout can be found. The access to fishing along the Glomma varies. Cultivated land and undergrowth restrict access and fishing from land in many places. On both sides of the river there is a comprehensive road system. From the roads, and where the bridges cross the river, it is often possible to reach suitable fishing places. Good local knowledge is important, therefore talk to the locals! Fishing along the main watercourse is regulated to a small degree.
EIDSBERG CHURCH
Eidsberg church – called Østfold Cathedral, was built in the late 1200´s, but burned in 1440. The church was rebuilt, and in 1880-81 it was extended and restored to its present appearance. The wall is derived in part from the old medieval church. Findings suggest an early church about the year 1000, followed by a Romanesque church in 1100-tallet. Alteret the current church is from 1651, the pulpit from 1662. The baptismal font made of soapstone is from the Middle Ages, and two sculptures – Adam and Eve from the 1600s. The church is located on highway 124, about 5 km south / west of Mysen.
TRØMBORGFJELLA MOUNTAIN
Trømborgfjella is a vast, undulating mountain / wooded area that extends from E18 to the north and down in Rakkestad in the south. This is Inner Østfold´s finest recreational area with marked trails in summer and winter and good fishing.
